Grapefruit Essential Oil

Latin name: Citrus paradisi. Family name: Rutacaea.

Grapefruit oil is cold pressed from the peel of the grapefruit and it primarily comes from the U.S. or Israel.

Grapefruit has a fresh, sweet, citrus scent. It is euphoric and refreshing. It is used as a top note in perfumery and it blends well with: Bergamot and other citrus oils, cardamom, coriander, cypress, geranium, juniper berries, lavender, neroli, palmarosa, petitgrain, pine, and rosemary.

Circulatory, Muscles and Joints: Cellulitis, preparation for exercise, fatigued muscles, obesity, stiffness, water retention.

Emotions and Nervous System: For use with self-doubt and criticism, dependency, frustration, depression, lethargy, and grief. Good for jet lag. Grapefruit is refreshing, cheering, slightly euphoric, and energizing. Grapefruit is an emotional “releasing” oil. Aids with drug withdrawal. For headaches, nervous exhaustion, and performance stress.

Respiratory and Immune System: used for chills, colds, flu, and as an airborne disinfectant.

Skin/Hair: for acne, oily skin, promotes hair growth, tones skin.

Actions: Antiseptic, antitoxic, astringent, bactericidal, diuretic, depurative, stimulant (lymphatic, digestive), tonic.
