Herbal Resins, Oils & Incense in the Kaballah, Cabala or Qaballah
By, Savitri Shivani; Continued
The 23rd Path: Myrrh
The 23rd Path is one from Geburah to Hod. Myrrh's powers are associated with spirituality and was burned to Ra at noon in Egyptian cosmology as well as fumed in the temples of Isis. We often find the Kaballah linked to Egyptian cosmology and their gods.  Myrrh aids in meditation, contemplation and increases power to any incense it is added to. When burned as incense, myrrh purifies the area, lifts the vibrations and creates peace. On this path we may come to drink of the 'Mute Dark Waters' which form our personal inner sea of life. This dark reddish-brown viscous mass resin with a warm, rich, spicy-balsamic odor is used to accompany the journey.
The 24th Path: Opoponax Resin or Siamese Benzoin
The 24th Path is from Tiphareth to Netzach which gives likeness to all similitudes. In its descending mode it represents the impregnation of matter with Divine Life Energy. On the return is the path of the serpent and regeneration trough esoteric deaths, unlike literal death. Netzach to Tiphareth is easily correlated with the Tantric path of sexual energy and Benzoin's power is in purification. It is a fine clearing herb. The grayish brown brittle lumps of benzoin have  reddish streaks. Opoponax Resin, is a sweet Myrrh.
The 25th Path: Cassia  Lignea, Lignum Aloes or Myrrh
The 25th Path is from Tiphareth to Yesod, the descent of vital life energies. The Light which flows along this path  is the vibration of life and love from a Self-made-perfect, a part of individuality which is in Tiphareth. The spicy warm scent of Cassia Lignea is known as a false cinnamon. Its bark oil is a dark brown oil with a strong spicy-warm odor. Wood Aloes are associated with high spiritual vibrations and almost totally unavailable these days. It has been used for centuries in magic. Myrrh is also suggested for this path working.
The 26th Path: Musk
Musk is associated with courage and fertility, an excellent choice for this path from Tiphareth to Hod, one of quantum leaps from intellectual consciousness to illuminated consciousness, from logic to intuition.
The 27th Path: Capsicum, all peppery odors
It's Planet is Mars, which is also attributed to the 27th Path from Netzach to Hod, a path of Divine Fire, the power of utterance, fire on the letters of the word, the service of light within the self. The use of pepper on this path is self explanatory, but is also often used to ward off the evil eye and  clear the mind of envious thoughts.

The 28th Path: Galbanum

The 28th Path is from Netzach to Yesod, a path in natural intelligence.  The path exercises a direct influence on the  subconscious.  It is a path that forms a link between pure creative energies and the subconscious. Galbanum is used on the 11th, 22nd and 28th path. Please see Path 11 for more information.
The 29th Path: Ambergris & all sweet odors
The 29th path is  from Netzach to Malkuth, a path distinctly concerned with animal drives. Ambergris is used in magnetic attraction.  The path also has special relevance to nature religions and blood links.
The 30th Path:  Cinnamon & Frankincense
The 30th Path is from Hod to Yesod. The path symbolism is very clear in that each image relates to illuminating solar principle.  Spirituality is the power of frankincense. It is burned to induce visions and to aid in meditation.  Coming from a small tree or shrub, it yields natural oleo gum resin which is collected by making incisions into the bark. The milky-white substance oozes and solidifies into tear shaped amber to orange-brown lumps between the size of a pea and a walnut.
The 31st Path: Frankincense & Copal
The 31st Path is a journey from Hod to Malkuth, a path of breaking down the false personality in order to allow the higher self to communicate enlightenment. For Frankincense see the 30th path, but frankincense and copal used here, is for purification. It is related to the element of fire as is the path association.
The 32nd Path: Storax & all heavy odors, can substitute Liquid Amber
The 32nd Path is from Yesod to Malkuth, a path of our living pattern of perfection. Styrax, as mentioned in the 16th path has powers for protection.
