When I first started this page a few years ago, Oprah had recently done her first show on Menopause. "We are bringing Menopause out of the closet" she said. Now Menopause is a regular subject on Oprah and in many major magazines.
When I started to exhibit symptoms of perimenopause at 42 years old, I was hit with a litany of symptoms. I found that many women I tried to discuss it with, just really didn't want to talk about it. Why, we were taught that the subject is taboo.
Well, Ladies and Men, hear this - More Women will suffer from symptoms of Premenopause (perimenopause) and Menopause over the next few years than ever. The Baby Boomers have begun to hit Mid Life, and Menopause is happening in epidemic proportions.
Many Doctors are as uniformed as we are. The have been few studies about this subject. Now the medical profession is realizing they need to look deeper into Menopause and how to treat it. Every woman is different. No two women suffer the same symptoms. There are over 200 symptoms and afflictions related to Perimenopause and Menopause.
Some women are hit very hard by the affects of Menopause, where as others breeze through it. Treatments vary also. There are many different HRT ( Hormone Replacement Therapy) Treatments available, as well as Herbal and Natural Therapies. Exercise is a must, relaxation and lots of rest. My personal recommendation is to utilize natural treatments whenever possible.
I happen to be one of those women who has been hit hard by Perimenopause. At first, I was not quite sure what was going on with me.
