One of the most highly regarded teachers of A Course In Miracles, Tara Singh derives his deep appreciation for the Course from his own direct experience with it's Scribe, Dr. Helen Schucman, with whom he had daily contact during the last two years of her life.Tara Singh draws inspiration from the wisdom of the East and West, from the Vedas to Emerson, and from his association with world figures including Mahtma Gandhi, Jawaharal Nehru, Eleanor Roosevelt and J. Krishnamurti.
Born in India, Tara Singh lived in the Himalayas as an ascetic monk, in Central America and Europe before coming to the United States in 1947. In New York he met J. Krishnamurti and became his life long student. Krishnamurti imparted eternal principles to guide his life.
Following three years study of Yoga in India he spent five years in silent retreat in Carmel, California. At the end of his silence he came across A Course In Miracles. He was able to meet it's Scribe Helen Schucman, and it was she who insisted he do workshops on A Course In Miracles.
In 1993 Tara Singh established the Joseph Plan Foundation. Its purpose is to help meet basic human needs and to awaken people to the joy of service.
My Personal Experience Of Tara Singh On a personal note, I would like to mention that this summer I had the pleasure to attend a weekend workshop with Tara Singh. I have been a student of A Course In Miracles for about seven years, mostly through the wisdom of another well known teacher of "The Course", Marianne Williamson. My first introduction to "The Course" was some of Marianne Williamson's taped Lectures. Through out the years I went to her lectures here in Los Angeles, had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times and read her wonderfully inspiring books. My experiences with "The Course" changed my life immensely and shaped who I am today.
My weekend with Tara Singh gave me a new and more wonderful view of "The Course". He is a warm and genuine man who's peace and grace touches everyone whom he meets. During the weekend, I looked up as he was speaking, to see the pure love in his eyes for each and everyone of us in the room. I was deeply moved and felt so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful experience and moment in time. At Tara's insistence I began to finally read "The Course", an undertaking I had been planning for years.
I have since had the opportunity to recently attend a Saturday Workshop. For anyone who has read anything on "The Course", or attended any other lectures, I wholeheartedly recommend to you, that Tara Singh is a must on the path to understanding "The Course".
Bright Blessings & Love,
Pamela
